Announcing an exciting opportunity for High School Horn Players in the MidNorth Region. The event is sponsored by the Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra (MoMO) to facilitate student participation in the 2014 MidNorth Horn Workshop, to be held at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
What: MoMO High School Honor Horn Ensemble, to be led by Herbert Winslow and Ellen Dinwiddie Smith, members of the Minnesota Orchestra
When: Concert on October 26 at 4pm. Dates for the 2014 MidNorth Horn Workshop are October 24-26, 2014.

How to participate: Students will be auditioned in person as well as via Skype, both by appointment. Participants must live in the MidNorth Region as set forth by the International Horn Society. The MidNorth Region includes: Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, & Michigan.
What to prepare: Strauss 1 or Mozart 2 or 3 (exposition), or a piece of similar difficulty level & Shostakovich 5 (1st mvt. low tutti) and Beethoven 3 (3rd mvt. horn trio, horn 2).

Cost to participants: There is no cost to applicants who are chosen to participate in this ensemble. This educational endeavor has been underwritten by the Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra as a part of the initiative to strengthen music education. There is a fee to attend the MidNorth workshop which participants will be required to pay to attend workshop events. This fee is separate from the MoMO High School Honor Horn Ensemble and will cover the cost of the events during the weekend.
Deadline for application extended to October 6, 2014 Details: Applications will be accepted beginning August 15, 2014 and closing date for applications will be October 6, 2014. Applicants who are selected agree to participate in rehearsals, horn workshop and final concert at 4pm on October 26, 2014. Rehearsals will be held Oct. 24-26, 2014.
