Montreal native Celine Leathead started her path to the Minnesota Orchestra at the tender age of three, beginning studies on the violin. Further movement along the path to a professional career came after a well-deserved win at the Montreal Symphony Young Artist Competition, earning her a concerto performance with the Montreal Symphony. She pursued her professional studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and won her first job shortly after graduation as Associate Concertmaster of the Alabama Symphony.
Celine moved to the Twin Cities in 1993 and played with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra for one year before joining the Minnesota Orchestra first violin section in 1994.
Celine performed with the Rosalyra string quartet for 10 years, and continues to enjoy playing chamber music with her colleagues.
She also enjoys teaching young violinists in her private studio at home.
