As recipient of the Fritz Kreisler Scholarship, Aaron Janse received his
bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Juilliard School, where he studied with
Dorothy DeLay and Joel Smirnoff of the Juilliard String Quartet. His chamber
music studies included work with Felix Galimir, Zoltan Szekely and Joseph
Fuchs, as well as the Guarneri and Juilliard String Quartets. At Juilliard, he
served both as a teaching fellow for Dorothy DeLay and as concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra.
In addition to his work as a violinist, Aaron is active as a violist; he has performed, toured and recorded with the revered Berlin Philharmonic under Haitink, Barenboim and Rattle. He has also performed frequently as a violist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Ravinia Festival.
Aaron has collaborated in numerous chamber music performances with such esteemed artists as Gil Shaham, Alicia DeLarrocha, Joseph Silverstein, Charles Castleman, Hillary Hahn and Stephen Hough. He has appeared at many festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, Cincinnati’s Linton series, Minnesota Orchestra’s Sommerfest, the Las Vegas Music Festival and the Alpenglow Festival in Colorado.
Aaron is a member of the Musical Offering, the Twin-Cities longest running chamber ensemble. Aaron has been a member of the Minnesota Orchestra since 1997.
